Spain was a great place for the prostitution and scandal society during the 1930s due to many factors such a a large gap between poverty and wealthy classes and due to the corruption of many officials. after the second Spanish republic in 1931, the government was in chaos and falls apart due to large changes from a republic to monarchy. the anarchists led the revolution in 1931 and as they ran Spain and Barcelona, Ciutat Vella was the price center of the city. during that time, prostitution went ramped throughout Barcelona as the anarchist mentality seeped into the city. as corrupt cops and officials walked the streets, prostitutes and scandals were not punished. due to this, crime and prostitution prospered in Spain.

these scandals and corruptions and are happening today because as officials gain power they feel that it is alright for them to bend the rules and commit crimes. people find it hard to avoid corruption and therefor prostitution and scandals still thrive in the 21st century.

Spain was the prime place for crime and prostitution in the
1930's for three reasons. 1-Poverty, there was a gap bewteen the government and the people not in power. 2-Corruption, people in government were very corrupt. 3-$ Gap; people in power had all the money and could do whatever they wanted because no one would stop them; the powerless people wouldn't and even if they tried couldn't stop what was going on. What I learned was that despite prostitution being illegal in the 1930's one would think that the cops would stop what was going on in the streets. But no, they joined in the action themselves and allowed for the brothels to happen as well as the prostitutes to not be arrested. These scandals and the corruption are still happening today because no one is stopping what is going and due to this, people continue doing scandalous things. And also these scandals and corrutions are still going on becausee people who have power such as officials abuse their power.

These scandals and corruption are still happening in present day, because with power, comes the want for more power. The desire of more power, leads to the abuse of the already given power, and with connections, political leaders think they can get away with scandals because of the money they can pay people off with, and the ties they have with other people to keep things quiet. But once something gets leaked out into the media and becomes widespread, the world knows. But in reality, probably a large amount of political leaders do the same thing as Elliot Spitzer, but do a better job at hiding it.
