Yay, I'm first to post! Okay, back on track. Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation had a huge impact on the Catholic Church and Europe. The Church was selling indulgences, which was basically a piece of paper that made your time in purgatory much shorter. Martin Luther, who was a German monk, was dead against it. In 1517, he nailed a list of 95 theses on the door of a church on a Sunday morning. The list was distributed quickly throughout Europe thanks to the printing press. His list basically listed what the Church was doing wrong. Pope Leo X ordered him to recant, which Luther refused to do. Lutherans were formed because of this. John Calvin also stepped in later. Calvinism was formed because of him. King Henry also made the Church of England, or the Anglican Church.

The church started to sell indulgences, also known as a ticket to heaven, in order to pay the Renaissance artists it kept on its employ and in order to built many new building projects, even though the church had no prove that there is such thing as heaven. In the year of 1517, a German monk Martin Luther nailed 95 theses on church door, which disagreed with the Church teachings, with the help of the printing press. He said that slavation is given from God through grace, and not by indulgences. When he was forces to recant by Pope Leo X, Luther refused and was excommunicated from church. John Calvin then preached predestination. King Henry VIII wanted a son as heir to throne, so he made Anglican Church, and was head of religious affairs.

As we all know during the middle ages, the Catholic Chuch was the most powerful institution. It had gotten to the point where the church was selling indulgences, which were tickets that would reduce the time you had in purgatory. Then they would be allowed into heaven. It wasn't until a german monk by the name of Martin Luther, had change peoples perspective on the church. Martin Luther nailed a list of 95 theses on a church door. These 95 theses explained his frustration on the Catholic Church. The practices they were doing were hoffiying (ex. indulgences). One main teachings that Luther inforced was that people had to ask god for their forgiveness of sins and salvation. This caused the believers to think and take action. Lutherans began to emerge. When Pope Leo X grew angry he ordered Luther to recant, but he refused to. As a result, he was excomminicated, and the pope called for his arrest. Luther was not found because a nobleman protected him.

The Church held a large amount of political power in Europe. All looked to it because it was what unified the m all and the church knew of the hold they had over the people. They used it to their advantage. Indulgences were papers that could be purchased to reduce a persons time in purgatory. The church gained an advantage with people believing everything they said to do. But resentment an mistrust started to grow. People began realizing the corruption in the church.
Martin Luther was a German monk who created a list of 95 theses and posted them on a church door. The list spread quickly and widely with the newly invented printing press. His theses pointed out the deceptions and lies the church came up with. Pope Leo X ordered Luther to recant his theses and when he didn't, he was excommunicated. He was to be arrested, but a nobleman gave Luther protection.
The Protestant Reformation was about more than just religion. It made people begin to search for their own answers of truth to what they had only assumed could be answered through religion. The reformation led to revolutions in education, politics, and science.

Martian Luther played an important part in the protestant reformation.Luther was a German monk who is famous for the posting of the 95 theses on the door of a church on a Sunday. These 95 theses stated 95 ways that the church was corrupt. One major way was the selling of indulgences. Indulgences were a piece of paper given from the church saying that if they had bought one, they will enter heaven.
Luther's ideas were quickly and widely spread due to the invention of the printing press by Guttenburg and many church officials attempted to have him killed.

THE PROTESTANT REFORMATION: STREAMLINING SALVATION

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, WAS A REMARKABLY POWERFUL FORCE IN EUROPE DURIMG THE MIDDLE AGES. POLITICAL POWER WAS SPREAD OUT UNDER THE FEUDAL SYSTEM, AND DIVERSE EUROPEAN PRINCES AND POLITICAL POWERS OFTEN CONFLICTED WITH THE POPE. ALTHOUGH , THE EMPERORS AND PRINCES KNEW THAT THEIR POWER WOULD INCREASE IF THEIR REIN WAS BLESSED BY THE CHURCH. THE ONE THING THAT THE PEOPLE OF WESTERN EUROPE HAD IN COMMON WAS THE CHURCH. IT WAS A COMBINED FORCE WHICH WAS BELIEVED TO BE SANCTIONED BY GOD. THE CHURCH WAS SO WIDELY ACCEPTED, THAT IT BELIEVED ITSELF, HAD AUTHPRITY OVER THE WORLD. THE POPE WAS THE HIERARCHY OF THE CHURCH AND ACTED AS THE MEDIAN BETWEEN MAN AND GOD. JUST ABOUT EVERYONE IN EUROPE REALIZED IN ORDER TO GET INTO HEAVEN YOU HAD TO FOLLOW THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. THE CHURCH REALIZED HOW MUCH POWER IT HAD OVER THEIR FOLLOWERS. AS A RESULT OF BUILDING PROJECTS AND RENAISSANCE ARTISTS IT NEEDED MORE FINANCES. IT BEGAN TO SELL INDULGENCES. THESE INDULGENCES WERE PURCHASED BY THEIR FOLLOWERS WITH HOPES TO SHORTEN THEIR TIME IN PURGATORY. THERE, THEY WOULD PAY THE PENALITY FOR THEIR SINS AND THEN BE ALLOWED TO ENTER HEAVEN. PEOPLE FEARED PURGATORY SO THEY, WERE HAPPY TO PURCHASE THIS PIECE OF PAPER. THESE INDULGENCES HELPED THE CHURCH GAIB WEALTH AND POWER. LAND OWNING NOBLES, BECAMEVERY RESENTFUL TOWARDS THE CHURCH. THIIS WAS BECAUSE THE CHURCH HAS SO MUCH POWER AND WEALTH AND TOOK ADVANTAGE OF RESOURCES AT THE COST OF THE NOBLES. AS A RESULT, THIS LED TO RESENTMENT AND MISTRUST AND RILED ANTI-CHURCH SENTIMENTS. Erasmus is the true founder of the Protestant Reformation. He laid the foundation for Martin Luther who posted the 95 thesis on the door of the Wittenberg Church. The Church asked him to recant but he refused and was then protected by German princes. Luther created a new religion called Protestant. He influenced others like John Calvin to follow him. Calvin invented Calvinism which was similar to Protestant except for predestination. Calvinism believed in predestination while Protestant didnt. King Henry VIII followed in their footsteps when the Church wouldnt allow him to divorce his first wife. He created the Anglican Church. Many different religions began popping up.

The Protestant Reformation: Streamling Salvation

-The church was the most poweful force in Europe. The church was a unifying institution which was guided by God through the popes as well as priests. The church was so powerful that it had authority on all things otherwordly and wordly. Everyone was part of the Catholic Church because the people knew that the only way for them to get into heaven you had to do what the Catholic Church told you to do. When the Catholic Church needed money to pay for building projects and their employed Renaissance artists they started selling indulgences. An indulgence was a piece of paper that the people believed that when they died they would get reduced time in purgatory so that they could get into heaven faster. A way that the church maintain it's power was by getting money from the Indulgences. While this was going on, the land owning nobles distensed themselves from the church because the church was using a huge number of resources at their expense. All the resentment that some people had for the church such as the resentmnet from nobles, led to anti-church sentiments. All the commotion that was going on was due to the church's selling of indulgences which showed how corrupt the church was and how their power was increasing.

Martin Luther... He is most famous for his 95 thesis's. His famous 95 thesis's would have never been so successful if it wasn't for the invention of the printing press. He was a German monk that devoted his life in preaching the religion but he was also a person that couldn't ignore the injustice that was done upon the people by the church. The church was not able to bear this and ordered Luther to immediately recant. but he refused to do so and this proved his point more. Due to this a new branch of Christianity was born called the Lutherans. Soon after Calvinism was formed by john Calvin and the Anglicans by henry VIII.

The protestant reformation bought many changes to Europe. New forms of Christianity was also formed. Martin Luther was a German monk that preached to everyone about Christianity. He was a faithful folloer but he opposed the ways of the church. He refused to believe that a person had to pay to achieve salvation and that a persons goodwill shall do them good and help them achieve salvation. He came up with 95 thesis's against the church and nailed it on the door. People became aware of these began to question. Soon enough the word spread around of the 95 thesis thanks to the new invention; the printing press. This time gave birth to the Lutherans, Calvinism and the Anglicans.

During the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church was the most influential force and held the most power in Europe. It acted as the intermediary between man and God and it said who were the heretics and who would go to heaven. In order to pay for all their luxuries the church started selling indulgences, a piece of paper that said that you could get into heaven. However a lot of people started to go against the selling of indulgences. In 1517, Martin Luther, a German monk, nailed a list of 95 Thesis on a church door. This was a list of things that were wrong with the Catholic Church. This was distributed quickly with the help of the printing press. Luther also said that the church services and masses should be conducted in the local language of the people not in Latin. He translate the Bible in German so people could understand it. He also said that people didn't need a priest to appeal to God but that they could talk to him directly. Pope Leo X ordered Luther to recant. When he didn't, the pope excommunicated him. However Luther was protected by a nobleman and continued to spread his ideas. People who followed Luther were called Lutherans. John Calvin spread his idea of predestination, that God had already chosen who would enter heaven and who wouldn't. His followers were called Calvinists. King Henry VIII converted England into Protestant and formed the Church of England, or the Anglican Church. The Protestant Revolution was important because it gave people the idea that they didn't need the church in order to communicate with God. It also contributed to revolutions in education, science and politics.

The Catholic Church had become a very powerful force in Europe. The Church had been able to convince all followers that in order to go to heaven, they must do what the Catholic Church says, which lead to their corruption. With this, the selling of indulgences had begun. An indulgence was a so called "ticket to heaven". This was for the reason that followers believed that by buying one, it would reduce one's time in purgatory and would be allowed into heaven. The selling of indulgences had begun to take off, leading the Catholic Church to obtain not only money, but power.
The corruption of the Church continued up until one person had begun to interfere. This was a German monk known as Martin Luther. He nailed the 95 theses on a church door. The 95 theses was a list made by Martin Luthers fustrations towards the Church. This included his thoughts on the selling of indulgences and the Bible. After Pope Leo X saw his works, he ordered Martin Luther to recant. Luther refused this order and was soon excommunicated. However, this didn't stop Luther. His thoughts were still being spread throughout followers of the Catholic Church and soon these followers began to become Lutherans.
Martin Luther wasn't the only one who took action against the Catholic Church. John Calvin had begun to spread his thought that God had already made one's destiny before they were born. These ideas soon encouraged many people to remove from the Catholic Church and began believing in these ideas instead.

The Church was the most powerful institution in Europe during the Middle Ages. It understood how powerful it was, and so it decided to use peoples beliefs to collect money. By using indulgences, the church sold people little pieces of papers that would tell the faithful that they are free of their sins and can go to heaven after death. By selling indulgences the Church became wealthier and more powerful. Land-owners grew mad at the church for taking their resources and anti-church sentiments were being shown. Many were now familiar with how corrupt the church had become.

He wrote the 95 Theses which listed the "frustrations" which the church. Thanks to the printing press his work spread far and fast. Pope Leo ordered for Luther to recant but he refused and was excommunicated. In 1517, a GErman monk, Martin Luther had written his frustrations of the church out on a list called the 95theses. Pope Leo ordered Luther to deny what his theses had but Luther did not. He was excommunicated. The theses was spread throught northern Europe and many began to agree and take Luther's side. Europeans began to think on their own and not rely on the church. This caused multiple revolutions in politics, education, and even science.

The protestant reformation started because of a German monk (Martin Luther). He was a preacher, he was a catholic preacher. Although he was with the church he disagreed with many of the things the church was doing. To stop this he came up with the 95 thesis, which was a list of 95 things the church was doing wrong, or believed was false, and with the help of the printing press (which was invented in this time period) people learned about it and agreed ad protested against the catholic church. Because the catholic soon excommunicated him from the catholic church he formed his own and called it the lutheran church.

The Protestant Reformation was started by a few things. One main thing was that the church began to sell indulgences. An indulgence was a piece of paper that once they died all their sins would be forgiven, and they would have a spot in heaven. Martin Luther was a german monk who was against the selling of indulgences. He believed that faith alone would grant salvation. Martin Luther wrote the 95 theses, and nailed it to the door of the Wittenberg churh. This list was sent throughout all of Europe, and didn't have to be hand written because of the invention of the printing press. The 95 theses was a list of all the things he felt that the church was doing wrong. Pope Leo X asked him to recant, and Luther refused to change his feelings about the church.Martin Luther was then exommunicated. The 95 theses changed people's views about the church forever.

Years before the Protestant Reformation, the Catholic Church was well known for its power. It started in previous years when the Pope was allowed to excommunicate kings and the Pope's power would override the king's. This proved that the Catholic Church had great political power.
As we entered the Middle Ages, the Church became more corrupt. This is because they lacked money due to the many crisis they were having during the Middle Ages like the Black Death or the Crusades.
Greedy for money, the church started selling indulgences, forgiving the sins of many by a simple payment of money, and urging individuals to give money to the church. All of these actions were done under the name of God.
Soon a German monk named Martin Luther had the courage to stand up against the powerful Church. He saw many faults in the Church and developed the 95 theses.
Luckily for Luther his ideas spread throughout Europe quickly due to Gutenberg's invention, the printing press. It was thanks to Gutenberg that the Protestant Reformation began that early.
Luther challenged the Catholic Church by stating that salvation can only be achieved through faith. The Pope did not allow this and commanded Luther to reject his belief in front of many.
The Protestant Reformation proved to many that the Church was corrupt, and slowly came the Scientific Revolution which allowed many to have their own beliefs or rather to allow themselves to search out their own answers.

The Protestant Reformation occured for a few reasons. For one, the catholic church was taking advantage of the common people. They started to sell indulgences, or tickets that guarenteed people to get into heaven. These tickets were expensive, and the church made people pay for an entire family. Martin Luther, a German monk, believed that the catholic church was corrupt. This is why he put the 95 theses on the door of a catholic church. He even did it on a Sunday so that people could read it. The 95 theses was basically 95 things that were wrong with the church. The protestant religion attracted many catholics because protestants believed that indulgences were not the way to get into heaven. They believed that the only way to do it was to was through good deeds. The protestant reformation would eventually lead to the creation of the Anglican church of England, created by King Henry the fourth.

His 95 thesis were quickly spread due to the printing press. Luther created Lutheranism and he was recived many followers. Luther was against the sale of indulgences and believed that faith alone granted salvation. The Church excommunicated him but he was protected by German princes. the protestant reformation was a result of many corruptive powers within the catholic church. due to the sale of indulgences, the church tricked their followers into the idea of salvation for money. also, the church was focused more on the economic prosperity than the religious concept that it was based on. due to Martin Luther's 95 Thesis, the society was able to come to terms with the manipulative power of their catholic church. the 95 Thesis was spread quickly due to the newly established Printing Press by Gutenberg. this resulted in uprisings and also the beginning of the Anglican or protestant church of England that was founded by King Henry VIII and many more denominations.

Before the Protestant Reformation had started the church was a great and powerful force in Europe. People cherished and possible feared the church as they could excommunicate your for any reason they want. The church understood the power they held in the clutches of their fists and used it whenever they were in a tight spot. After the Renaissance had ended the church was in a huge debt to the artists that had painted in their churches, so they started selling indulgences. An indulgence was a piece of paper that the people could buy to get themselves out of purgatory or to get a loved one that has died and is currently residing in purgatory out. People had started resenting the church as they were using their powers wrongly and this showed the true nature of the unjust and corrupt church to everyone. In 1517, a man named Martin Luther had finally stepped forward and done something about this. He had posted up the 95 theses on a church door and had it spread it around with the help of the new printing press. This list showed his frustration with the church, of course including the selling of the indulgences. One thing that was said on the list is that the church should be printed in the language of the people residing in that are, which was German, and not Latin; he later took this upon himself and wrote a German bible himself and spread it for people to read. He had also said that the only way to get salvation is to have faith in god. Pope Leo X was furious at this outbreak and had immediately demanded Martin Luther to recant all that he said; he refused and was excommunicated. When he finally got the privilege to talk to a princes and church leaders, the pope had asked for his arrest. Luckily a nobleman from Luther's hometown protected him and Luther continued to spread his ideas. Luther's followers started to refer to themselves as Lutherans and had started to distance themselves from the churches. John Calvin, one of Luther's followers, had led a powerful protestant group by preaching his ideas of predestination. Predestination is when god had decided whether you got to hell or heaven the second you were born and there was nothing you can do to change it; there were only a certain few who could escape this fate, they were called the "Elect". Soon even King Henry VIII had joined the Protestant Reformation. He wanted a divorce, but the Pope said no to his request of an annulment, the outraged Henry decided to make his own church, known as the Anglican Church, or the Church of England, to get an annulment.

The Protestant Reformation had a hude impact of the Catholic Church. Martin Luther based his 95 Thesis directly on the Church. His thesis stated that the people of Europe did not need the Catholic Church to live their lives and interact with God. Because he openly challenged the church it re-evaulated peoples ideas of God's relationship to man and made it acceptable to soon question other things. When bibles became vernacular, people were able to make their own relationships with God instead of listening to what the church told them. They began to question the world around them and the authority of the church.

Martin Luther was a man who agreed with Erasmus' beliefs and followed through with his ideas of changing. It is said "Erasmus laid the egg that Luther hatched" In the year 1517 Luther nailed the 95 Theses on the doors of a church. The 95 Theses were a list of all the corruption of the Catholic Church. Lutherans were created shortly after Martin Luther’s acts. Two men who came later on that agreed with Luther's beliefs and acted upon it was John Calvin who created Calvinism, and King Henry, who created the Church of England, also known as the Anglican Church.
