Olemc

- Existed in what is today Mexico from 1200 to 1400 BCE.
- Urban society supported by surpluses of corn, beans and squash.
- Polytheistic, which is the belief of more than one god.
- They developed a system of writing and a calendar.

Chavin

- Existed in the Andes from 900 to 300 BCE.
- Were also an urban civilization and polytheistic.
- Had access to the coast.
- Used metals in tools and weapons and llamas were the main animal used.

The Olmec and Chavin civilizations are unique because they did not develop in river valleys as other early civilizations did.

The Olemc civilization existed in modern day Mexico from 1200-1400 BCE. It was an urban society that produced corn beans and squash. They mastered irrigation systems and developed a system of writing. They also made a calendar and were polytheistic. They did not delevop in a river valley but still had access to rivers and streams. The Chavins were also an unrban civilization who were polytheistic. However, instead of agriculture, they mostly fed on seafood. They used llamas and they're weapons were made out of metals. These cilizations are important because they developed in a different region of the world and yet were very similar to the early civilizations.

The Olemec were known to had lived from the years 1200 - 1400 B.C.E. They had lived on the food that they had grown, which were squash, beans, corn, etc. They had created their own writing system ( like many civlizations ), and had created their own calender. They also had came up with many irrigation techniques. They were also polythesitic, which meant that they believed in many gods.

The Chavin had existed from the years 900 - 300 B.C.E. They were also polythesitic. They had created their own diet on only seafood, since they had lived near the coat. They loved the llamas and created tools and weapons.

They are equally similar, and are also unique in their own way. Unlike many other civlizations, the Olmec and Chavin did not develop in river valleys. All they ahd were small streams and rivers.

The Olmec and the Chavin were two early american civilizations. They developed like most civilizations but they were found to have no contact with no other civiliztion and didn't develop in a river valley like most civilizations during this time.
The Olmec civilizations existed from 1200 to 1400 B.C.E. This civilization was like most civilizations due to their irrigation techniques and their buildings. They developed the a system of writing and a calendar They were supported by their surpluses of food which included corn, beans and squash. They were also polythestic.
Like the Olmec civilization, the Chavin civilization was also polythestic. However, this civilization existed from 900 to 300 BCE. They mostly ate seafood and had access to the coast. They manily used llamas as their animal and used metals in tools and weapons.
Although these civilizations were different in their own ways, they were also similar in which they both had no major river system.

The Olmec and Chavin were both urban societies. They are each in different parts of the globe, yet they both demonstrate the same patterns of development. They each developed independantly as well, without the contact of other peoples.
The Olmec was supported by corn, squash, and beans. They had irrigation techniques abd large-scale buildings. they had writing a celendar and areligious way. They were polytheistic.
The Chavin were polytheistic as well but in addition to their agricultural living they also had acess to the coast. Therefore they ate alot of seafood. They had tools and weapons of metal as well. And their "beasts of burden" were llamas.
Neither civilization developed a river valley .

The Olmec society was an urban society which was located as what is now known as Mexico around the time of 1200-1400 bce. They were a polytheistic group that developed a writing system and a calender.

The Chavin were also urban and had a polytheistic society. They had access to the to the coast which allowed them to supplement their diet with seafood. They developed ways to use metals in tools and used llamas as their beasts of burden. Both civilizations did not develop near a river.

Omecs were located in present day Mexico from 1200-1400 BCE. They were an Urban society with a developed irrigation system which allowed them to grow crops like beans, squash and corn. They constructed large scale buildings as well as developing their own system of writing and a calendar. They were also monotheistic.

The Chavin were active between the years of 900-300 BCE in the Andes. They were urban and polytheistic like the Olmec. They were unique in a way that they ate seafood since they lived near the coast adn they developed a way use metals as tools and weapons. They used llamas ... not alpacas ;).

BOTH
They developed very similarly to the eastern early civilizations even though they had no contact between each other. They were also unique because like other major early civilizations, they did not come about in river valleys.

The Olemc civilization is now Mexico. They existed from 1200- 1400 BCE. This civilization grew corn, beans, and squash. The Olemc created a writing system, irrigation systems and also a calendar. Unlike, many other civilizations the Olemc did not develop along side or near a river or stream. However they were able to get to rivers or stream for farming and other needs. The Chavins were an urban civilization. Unlike, the Olemc their diet was not based on vegetables but they were indeed based on fish. They used metal weapons and llamas.
Even though these civilizations formed in a different area than the other early civilizations they were greatly alike. They were alike when it came to life styles.

The Olmec civilization began in 1200 BCE to 1400 BCE in what today is known as Mexico. Ther were an urban society that relied on mostly agriculture for survival. They mastered irrigation and they developed a system of writing and a calendar. The Olmecs were also polytheistic.
The Chavin civilization developed in the andes in 900 to 300 BCE. Like the Olmec they were also an urban society that used agriculture, but they did have access to the coast supplying them with seafood. They developed metal weapons and tools.

What is interesting about these two civilizations is that they developed outside of a river valley. This shows that river valleeys are not the only place that a society can develope. What is also interesting is that both these societys were not influenced by the outside world, this shows that civilizations can develope independently.

The Olmec existed from 1200-1400BCE and the Chavin from 900-300BCE. The two civilizations developed similarly, being an urban civilization, were polytheistic, and focused on agriculture. The Olmec's mastered irrigation techniques, created large-scale buildings, and developed a writing system along with a calendar. The Chavin had access to the waters so they ate seafood along with what they grew. They developed tools and weapons out of metals. These two civilizations share common developments even though they occurred in different parts of the globe and time. They also defer the hypothesis that river valleys are essential for a civilization to prosper.

The Olmecs existed from 1200 to 1400 BCE. They settled in the lands today known as Mexico. They farmed for corn, beans, and squash. They were advanced in irrigation and constructed buildings. Their religion was polytheistic. Their other achievements were the celander and a system of writing.

The Chavins existed from 900 to 300
BCE. They settled in the Andes. Just like the Olmecs, Chavin was an urban civilization, an was also polythiestic. But, they had mostly seafood since they had access to the coast. They used llamas as burden. They also developed ways in which they can use metals in tools and weapons.

Unlike many famous early civilizations, both of these civilizations didn't develop in river valleys, making them unique.

-The Chavin existed from 900 to 300 B.C.E. They were also an urban society. They were agricultural, but they utilized the sea for seafood. They were efficeint in using metals in tools and weapons. They used llamas too!
-Even though both civilizations were on opposite sides of the world, they were quite similar. Neither the Olmec nor the Cavin developed in a river valley, which proves that river valleys aren't necessary in civilizations.

The Olmec was an urban society. They had an abundance of corn, beans, and squash which they lived on. They were masters of irrigation and built many large buildings. They were polytheistic and developed a system of writing and a calendar.

The Chavin was also an urban civilization and were polytheistic. They were mainly agricultural and had access to the coast and were able to add seafood to their diet. They developed techniques to use metals in tools and weapons and llamas to help ease their work load.
